Changelog
2.2.0
Assistant
- Type or say a request in the notch. Simple ones run on your Mac at once, with no network: add a note or a to-do, open or quit an app, play or pause music, set the volume, or ask about memory, battery or disk.
- Anything else goes to Claude Haiku, with your own key. It adds notes, to-dos and events, answers questions about your Mac and controls it, and gives quick answers.
- It tells you what it did, with a link to open it. Quitting an app, cleaning caches or emptying the Shelf asks first.
- When a request needs your screen, it hands it to the agent.
Voice
- One mic in the prompt bar, on every tab. Click to talk, click again to send. Holding ⌃⌥Space still works.
- The Plan tab no longer has its own mic row.
- The voice language moved to Settings → General.
Clipboard
- Clipboard history replaces the colour picker as the fourth quick tool. Click its button or press ⌃⌥7.
- Your last 20 copies: text, images and files. Click one to copy it again.
- It stays in memory on your Mac and is never saved or sent. Copies from password managers are skipped.
- Turn it off in Settings → Quick tools.
Also
- A new permission prompt: the first note asks to let VortexPoint control Notes.
- The shortcut you set for the colour picker now opens Clipboard history.
2.1.0
The island
- A redesigned island, now with the weather. It asks for your location once.
- Click the field to type.
- The agent shows its full answer, with Copy, Ask a follow-up and Done.
- A smoother shadow.
- The agent's dot is now a black drop that comes out of the notch and goes back in.
Plan
- A new Plan tab after Mac: your Apple Calendar on the left, your Reminders to-dos on the right.
- Move through the weeks, tick off a to-do (click it again within 1.5 seconds to undo), and see what's next.
- "Next up" in the Now tab when an event starts within 3 hours.
Voice
- Hold ⌃⌥Space and talk, or click the mic in the Plan tab. A tap still opens the prompt.
- Romanian and English, recognised on your Mac.
- Claude turns what you say into events and to-dos with your own key. You see them first, with Save, Edit and Undo, and they save by themselves after 5 seconds.
- No key yet? What you said is saved as one to-do.
Quick tools
- Four tools under the clock: take a screenshot, record an area (the timer runs in the notch), grab text from the screen, and pick a colour.
- ⌃⌥4, ⌃⌥5, ⌃⌥6 and ⌃⌥7 work from any app. You can change them in Settings.
Skins
- Pixel Grid, a fine dot grid that ripples, is free for everyone: Settings → Appearance.
- Dynamic background, colours that follow your music and the weather, is coming soon with VortexPoint Plus.
Settings
- Right-click the notch and choose Settings…, or press ⌘, while VortexPoint is open.
- °C or °F, or pick a city for the weather.
- Change any shortcut, or turn it off.
- Choose where captures are saved, and whether they go to the Shelf and the clipboard.
- A spending limit for each agent task.
- A Plan section: where new events and to-dos go, and the voice language.
- The Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, in About.
Also
- New permission prompts: Screen Recording for the quick tools, access to your Desktop the first time a capture is saved there, Calendars and Reminders the first time you open Plan, and Microphone and Speech Recognition the first time you talk.
- With AirPods connected, VortexPoint listens through the Mac's microphone, so your music keeps its quality.
- A more reliable Start at Login.
0.1.0
First public version.
- The notch becomes an island: music now playing, a file shelf, Mac Health with Focus and cache cleaning.
- Point, the pixel pet, lives in the notch.
- AI agent (Beta): ask in the notch and it uses your Mac for you, with your own Claude API key.
